I have a Ferguson T0 30 with a positive ground converted system. I replaced the old generator with a new one and when I start the tractor the amp meter moves to the right briefly and then stays just right of center showing perhaps one amp charging.

The old wires leading from the generator looked bad so I spliced the wires and replaced the worn looking wire. Started the tractor and same response. I reversed the wires on the generator with same results.

Is this normal or should it show a more positive charge reading. I tapped the amp meter thinking it may stuck but no difference and the connections are tight.

Thanks
Robert

(quoted from post at 17:52:32 04/20/21) Yes it's normal. Your charging system is working just fine.

Many thanks for replying. I mowed yesterday ~10 acres in which tractor ran for six hours. No problem with charge and battery. I did forget yesterday to mention that I replaced the battery. So being fresh it probably did not require a lot of charge. Thanks again. I really appreciate all the help that I have received on this website.
