The original subject was "Re: TO30 head studs".

I have been looking everywhere for head studs for my TO30! Did you use a kit from ARP or have to call them and provide specs? Please help!!

Hi Blake -

I emailed ARP and described what I needed. As I recall, the short ones are a bit long, but not a big deal. The long ones were too short to use the provided washers. The provided nuts are flanged so the washers are somewhat superfluous. Were I doing it again I'd see what the next longer length is available and go with that as long as they aren't unreasonably too long.

ARP provided their closest length stock studs for the application. Quality is outstanding. I was working without much money and chafed a bit at the added expense, but well worth it. Realistically didn't have much choice, stock studs were worn out.

Here's a c/p of some of the communication from 2018 - obviously prices may have changed.

QUESTION:
I need to replace the head securing studs on a 1952 TO30 Ferguson tractor. There are two lengths, (8 ) 4-11/16" and (5) 1-7/8". All are 7/16" with NF on one end and NC on the other. Would you quote me on providing these pieces along with appropriate nuts and flat washers?

thanks, David

I know this is an old thread but i wanted to post the ARP part number for the longer studs that i used in case it can help others in the future. I also wanted to thank pomester for posting originally. It helped me out a lot.

I didn't use the ARP washers under the 3 longer studs under the rockers. I used the original washers on those because the nuts were too close to the rockers for my liking with the ARP washers which are very thick.

8 - stud # AP4.750-1SB (4.750” OAL) $ 7.13
5 - stud # AP2.090-1SB (2.090” OAL) $ 4.80
13 - 200-8605 (hex nut) $ 2.55
13 - 200-8510 (washer) $ 1.12

Why not buy a high grade bolt, saw it off then use a die on the stub?
I'm not sure it would save any money and it would certainly be a lot of effort to end up with a substandard product. Only something I'd consider if alternatives were unavailable/prohibitive.

If this works, it should link to the archived thread referenced in the first post.
