TO30 Carb

I have a 52 TO30 and need a carb. I know it was a Marvel Schebler TSX458. But the only thing i can find are aftermarket ones. The carb that
came with the tractor was a aftermarket TSX361A and it is junk. Any suggestions where to find an original carb. Thanks

The carb on it now is a aftermarket tsx 361A and it is worn out - the throttle shaft is very sloppy and the plastic venturi is distorted. The tractor runs but barely. The only "new " carb i can find is a aftermarket. If i could locate a original MS TSX458 thats the way i want to go but they do not seem to exist.

Has anyone had good luck with a aftermarket carb?
 
There is one TSX458 original carburetor (remanufactured) on eBay right now. They are quite proud of it, but it is available.

Aftermarket carbs (Chinese manufactured replacements for the most part) get mixed reviews here and elsewhere. My only direct experience is a B&S single cylinder replacement that I did 3 months ago. Mounting threads in the new carb were metric but tapped out to SAE easily. Carb has worked flawlessly. For $50 on a new unit you are not risking a lot. I think all the replacement carbs are aluminum (alloy of some sort I'm sure) vs the cast iron of the original M-S.

There are tractor salvage operations, I've used Walts and they've treated me well. There are others. Start a search, make a few phone calls. Don't expect anyone to be cheap. Keep an eye on eBay, they come and go, if you see what you want jump on it.

"x" amount of time ago, I had a machine with an aftermarket carb on it. I played with it and finally got it running with a knife's edge of
adjustment, barely. If you have an option for an OEM one, you not going to find NOS, I would have to say pick it up.
 
several options. This site may have rebuilt ones. Ebay is another good place " shop around on eBay though" used ones are fairly cheap on there and so forth. Depends on the seller.
Obviously rebuilt ones are more expensive and kits are fairly cheap. Depends on if you want to buy a core or a out the door one.

I bought the $177 repop from YT and it has worked great for 3 years now. It's silver, not the cast color but otherwise fine.
 

I Have checked on E bay and they really have a wide price range for what seems to be the same aftermarket carb. Also if it fits a TE20 TO20 and a TO30 will it run correctly? There is one on there that is a original Marvel Schebler but when i zoom in on the numbers it is not a TSX458. Guess i may try a cheap one till i can find a used original TSX458.

Agreed - does include $100 core charge which makes it defensible, altho you don't have a core -

I bought a new Zenith carb for a 3 cylinder Ford a 3 years ago and it was about $350. Painful, but only once.
 

My 53 TO30 Has the same one. Wow, I have never bought a rebuilt one,didn't know they were that expensive. Maybe I should start selling used oem parts. Less of the fergies out there. The scrappers are tightening up the supply.

Surely there is a lower price somewhere. At least for a used as is one.
 

After sending messages back and forth all day it would seam that the seller does not know what carb they are selling as "it" has no tag. I say "it" because the listing shows 6 avaliable.
 
My e-mail is open on this site. The tag is still on it. Came off of a running tractor but has been on the shelf for a couple of years.

ArleninOr If you see this and still want to sell the carb please contact me at the email i posted earlier. I have tried to send you and send myself emails from here and it does not seem to work.

If anyone else has a TSX 458 for sale with the tag on to verify what it is please let me know.
 

It is a aftermarket carb that is not rebuild-able ie the venturi is plactic and being distorted would need replacement. The parts to rebuild it would cost more than the same carb on ebay. Just trying to locate a original Marvel Schebler carb for it.

A member here says he has one but i can not get the email on here to work and i left my email but no response from him. So dont know what to think. If he wanted to sell it my email is in a post above.
 
Update still looking for a Marvel Schebler TSX 458 for a Ferguson to30. Had a few lined up but payment did not work out and the other fellow just disappeared so still looking. Some come up on ebay every so often so i guess i will just keep looking.
 
Just a update. A member - 1rustic1 offered to send a carb free that he bought on ebay if i adopted a child for christmas see above posts which we did we always do but this year we added a couple more. But then he dissappeared and after severial attempts to contact him i find out there will be no card. Thats ok as i have found one local just beware - using kids and christmas .
