Intake and exhaust manifold

I was beginning to take off the carburetor last night but noticed where the carburetor attaches to the intake there appears to be a separation between the intake pipe and where the carburetor attaches. It doesn't look like it is cracked but very clean as if someone sawed through it. Is it supposed to be this way? I would think this would allow air to get it from the outside and the carburetor to set to run to rich. I have looked an the manifolds offered as replacements and they appear to made differently. Will a replacement manifold fit with no modifications needed? Thanks in advance.

I had my TO35 running today and thought of your manifold post so I grabbed a couple of pictures. Are these what you are talking about? Made that way to take the high heat of the exhaust and the cool of the intake at the same time.

No right below the vacuum plug. The carburetor is below that and attached to the the intake part of the manifold. Just above the flange where the carburetor is attached is the separation You can see it in the photo.

Yes that’s it took off the carb and it appears it just
one solid piece maybe left over from manufacturers.
Just appears to be two pieced
