TO35 steering gear adjustment screw removal??

I have my steering gear out, the steering wheel is removed the guts of the entire gear are apart. I have an adjustment screw that is broken off inside the side plate. The plate and the gear are in one piece but I cannot figure out how to get the screw out. It seems to be captive somehow.

How do I remove it!? Its broken off and not adjustable. Need to get it out.

I could be wrong on this but I believe the round button heads of the adjustment screws are in slots in the end of the shaft so they can push or pull the shaft during adjustments. At least that's what the parts book shows. So in that case the screw has to turn in through the cover, in the direction of the shaft, to be removed. There are also shims to fit the screws snug in the shaft slot. The parts breakdown is in the AGCO parts books.https://apb.agcocorp.com/

Yeah, that is helpful, but there is no way that screw goes in or out completely. I cannot even figure out how the assembly is put together. There must be a catch inside that let's you release it all. That's the only way it can be removed so far as I can imagine. Either way, it cannot be screwed in or out. It's physically impossible. It does not make sense that it was cast as a piece with the screw already in either. So, there must be a release inside somehow.
 

Does anyone have access to a service manual that explains how to remove it? It would be helpful. As it stands, I need a couple of bearings and this to make this a good usable part for my tractor.

What does your service manual tell you? From any of that type I have done, with the cover and shaft removed, those screws have screwed in to be removed. This video may help you, this is part 1 (looks like it is a 6 part series of the rebuild). The fellow is removing an adjusting screw at about minute 24. The steering box is similar to yours.

Got it.

Got it out of the one that is NOT broken off inside. I have no clue how I am going to get it out of the one that is. Lol.
 

Did it break because it wouldn't turn or it was turning but you went too far trying to get it out the wrong way? If it was turning and broke because it bottomed out when you were turning it, you may be able to carefully use a hammer and small puncture wound punch or diamond point chisel to turn the screw with. If it won't start that way or if it was seized and didn't turn at all you will need to drill it out. If you don't have the tooling it might be worth it to you to take it to a machine shop and have them remove it. I am guessing it is broken down in the hole where it would be hard to weld anything to it that wouldn't mess the threads up.
 

GOT BOTH OF THEM OUT!!

The broken one was broken because it had been backed out and then the steering arm hit it and snapped it off.

I used a cobalt bit to drill a clean hole as close to center as possible and then ran a 1/4-20 tap down the hole and the screw threaded right 'IN' and out the back side. No problem.
