Question (1) is a roll pin string enough for the distributor drive gear or do i need a solid pin Question (2) Distributor shaft ( end play ) / Vertical move ment there no thrust washer between gear & bottom of dis. / is there suppose to be one / Have 3/32" movement in the shaft Thanks

A shot in the dark. Roll pin will work just fine. Upward movement is dependent upon lobe travel on the points. Now if you get too much upward travel, your cam/dist gear might not be happy. Typically I have seen spacers between the gear and the dist housing to take up slop.
If you take apart your dist, lube the shaft upon reassembly.
