z134 valve train retention pin

I am working on a z134 valve train and have a question on the shaft retention pin. Mine was missing and the shaft is turning and starving the valve train of oil. What size pin do I use and how the heck do you get it in? It seems like you have to insert it by dropping down the stud shaft. Any info would be great.

Been a while since I've had one apart, but seems it just a roll pin hammered into a hole in the shaft and fit in a groove on the rear stand?

I don't recall exactly, so don't take that as the truth.

But if it turned and quit oiling, is it not damaged?

Might be time to buy a rebuilt assembly. That would have the pin already in place.

That’s my next step. I disassembled the whole train and nothing seemed damaged, I just got the tractor Several weeks ago, so who knows how long it’s been that way. There doesn’t seem to be a place to put the pin. My only thought is at some point it was torn down and reassembled without the correct stand. All the stands have oil passages in them as if they were all rear stands, not sure if they were all made that way. Thanks for the help.
