Hello, if you look at the rear of the back of its kind of self-
explanatory, slide into that drawbar hitch underneath the PTO I
got two bars welded solid in there so it can't move ,and ties into
the big top pin on the rear end housing... been working very well
for years hi, any other questions feel free I would be glad to
help....Ed

Thanks very much Ed!

One other quick question. Do you know if a 54B like yours was originally meant to attach to a subframe? My understanding is that the model 54C did use a subframe, but I'm just not sure about a 54B.

Thanks again, I appreciate your help!

Paul

Hello, glad to help, mine it came just like it is in the picture,
if there was a subframe on it I never seen it... mine was in the
scrap behind a farm equipment dealership they didn't think it was
worth saving... it was more work to restore it than it was
actually worth it but I wanted the right age group to match my
tractor... good luck with yours , it is a good strong backhoe and
I put a remote clutch on mine so I can move the tractor sitting in
the backhoe seat to make up for the short boom.. been using it off
and on for 18 years.. that was made by Wayne Roy in Michigan and
they actually patent and invented the backhoe concept

(quoted from post at 11:43:54 10/11/20) What is the specific hydraulic pump you have powering this backhoe?
ere is mine in it's worn glory.

Ed. H, I see where your mounting is different due to the fast hitch modification. Do you use a remote pump different than the PTO mounted Hydreco?

I cannot read the tag.

You may have better luck with this if you start a new post of your own, rather than tagging onto old posts in several different forums. It is not likely you will find a pump using the tag from an old pump. I believe it has been mentioned in some posts about purchasing a PTO driven pump from Surplus Center or other places, such as the YT Store. If your PTO shaft is the standard 1-3/8" - 6 spline and accessible a 540 RPM PTO pump in the 20 GPM range should be plenty to operate your backhoe.

20 is the problem. Way to much flow and the HP requirements stall the tractor. More realistically its more like 7 gpm-ish. The purpose of the tag is to find out what the flow rate of the original pump was.
