Charging voltage at battery

Hi,
I own a '52 TEA 2085 12V system. I just installed a new battery and generator (both were pooched). Now when the tractor is running, the voltage at the battery climbs slowly to about 15.5V. I shut it down when it reached this voltage because I didn't know if the voltage should be that high. What should the voltage be at the battery if the generator and voltage regulator are operating correctly? What should I check first? Am I in for a new voltage regulator or can it be adjusted if 15.5 is too high? Everything else appears to run well. Thanks for any help.
Ron

This might be of help, It is not specific to your Fergie. 15.5 volts sounds too high. I would fully charge the battery first and see if it still makes 15.5 volts. If it does I think your control box needs adjusting or replacement.

Sounds like V/R might have a bad ground. 15.5 is a touch bit high. 14.8 is at the top of the range for GM products I believe and 15.5 is topped off for Chrysler. I would have to clean and grease the V/R ground and see what you get.

Thanks, I thought that the voltage may have been a bit high. I'll go through the suggestions for adjusting the regulator and see if that fixes the problem. Duner do you own an MG? Just wondering. I do and use Barney's site all of the time. Didn't think to go there since I've converted my MG to an alternator. Thanks again.

RonON, I never owned a MG tho I really admired MG TF and saloon cars from way back.I have owned various English cars tho. A-C, AH, Triumph.

MG. I would have to shrink down no less than 6 inches and about 90 pounds. Even if I lost the 90, I still won't fit.
MG. Lucas electric.
Beware the dark side Luke...

Thanks again guys. I have a '58 MGA and you're right, it is small, low to the ground and small quarters. I'm 6'1" and about 210 but have no difficulty getting in & out. Fun to drive and has nice lines. My 1st car was an MG and I've driven many British sports cars over the years. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. I am going to check out the VR tomorrow and hopefully will be able to resolve the overcharging issue. Thanks again, Ron
