3pt Lower link removal

Hello I have a TO35 and would like to replace the 3pt arm because they are in rough shape.

The left hand nut came out fine. My problem is that the part 181229M5 5/8" Lower Link Shaft is just spinning in place, from online pictures there is a nut on the internal side you cannot get to without removing the trumpet housing is that true?

Would spot welding it temporarily be a good idea?

Thanks.

Now you can buy a new part and pull the axle trumpet as one piece. Engine hoist works well for this job.

Thanks Steve and Bruce, it doesn't seem to be leaking oil yet so I will leave it alone for now.
When I have more time I will remove the trumpet housing.

Now to confirm the removal I can pull the whole trumpet assembly without removing the axle from the other end, my axle bearings do not leak, so the less things to take apart the better.

Yes I check the level every time I use the tractor.

On the to35, 35 and 135 the rear axles, rear diff, pump and transmission share the oil, all 7 gallons of it. If it leaked I would have an environmental disaster on my hands :)

Hello and good evening, run the tractor front end down in a deep
ditch so the oil will go forward pull the PTO out, I change mine
that way.... works great, Ed

I need to do work on the top cover soon, and I was planning on replacing the PTO seal, so I will drain the oil and save it since it was replaced recently.
Not having to take out the trumpet housing makes my life easier. The lower link is not broken, just loose on the one side.

Why not cut thru the ball joint with a grinder. Then, you can get vise grips on the stub. The challenge will
be tightening the nut inside, but I think i would try this before taking off a trumpet.

Ed just to confirm tightening the bold worked accessing via the PTO for the right hand side, I got 3 extensions, a 90, and a light in the whole.

On UK built models the left is impossible to access unless the trumpet is removed . You can get a socket onto the rhs through the pto hole but you really need to weld it onto a bar and do the job by feel .
