Ferguson to20

Hi does anyone have a wiring diagram
for a 12 volt conversion for a to20. I
converted it already one wire
alternator with amp gauge but going to
take amp gauge out for room for a
temperature gauge and do away the the
amp gauge. So my question is what is
the wiring for one wire Steiner
tractor parts alternator with out the
amp gauge 12 volt?

To eliminate the amp gauge, being it is already wired, just remove the wires from the amp gauge and tie them all together.

Simplest way would be with a short #10 screw and nut. Tape it thoroughly and shrink tube it over the tape.

Be sure there is a place to install the temp gauge sensor bulb. Some didn't have provisions if I recall correctly.

OKay thanks Steve but only one question won't that short out any wires when they are all taped together and touching. Because I think there is 2 or 3 wires on the amp gauge I am pretty sure it is 3?

Should only be 2 terminals on the amp gauge. Once the wires are combined, tape and shrink tube the connection so it can't touch anything.

If there is a 3rd terminal it's for a light. If there is a wire on the light terminal you can use it for a light on the temp gauge if you want, or trace it back to it's origin and remove it.

There must be more than one kind of 12 volt conversions out there? there is 3 one coming from the alternator to the positive side of the amp meter. One from the ignition switch to the amp meter positive side and a wire coming from the negative side of the amp meter to the positive wire on the starter switch. So I put the alternator wire directly on the positive cable on the starter switch and the wire from the ignition switch directly on the positive cable on the starter switch as well.

Okay thanks again Steve so I won't fry anything like my ignition switch correct with alternator wire directly put on the positive cable side of the starter switch on the tractor for the gear shift start. And the wire coming from the ignition switch on the positive side on the starter switch too touching the alternator wire which has the positive red cable on it from the battery.

You're good.

You want the alternator connected directly to the battery cable, not going through the ignition switch.

When you connect the final battery cable, there should be no evidence of any spark.

Yes that's how I have directly on the battery terminal on the starter switch and the wire that's needs to get power some where to send to the coil is on the positive battery cable or the same side as the battery cable is on.

Power to the coil comes from the IGN terminal of the ignition switch.

Power to the ignition switch BAT terminal comes from the positive battery cable at the starter switch.

Okay thanks got tonight the top radiator hose of and noticed a lot of rust and peely scale on the top radiator neck and wondering if I should put full strength antifreeze coolant in there instead of the 50/50 mix thanks again Steve where did you learn all this great knowledge on the Ferguson tractors?
