piston direction

Hi Guys, I am finally getting around to re-assembling my TO 20 engine and have a question. The original pistons had an arrow and front stamped into the piston but the kit that I purchased from Yesterday's Tractor doesn't have that on the pistons. It does have some numbers and a notch machined into the edge of the top and I am wondering if that notch goes to the front? It is the pistons that come with the complete engine overhaul kit that I bought a few years ago. Thanks for your help, Ed

I think you pistons will have a pin offset. If they do the side that is closer to the side of the piston will go on the left as you are sitting on the tractor.

I did try to mic the old pistons to see if there might be an offset but my standard calipers wouldn't work and my Harbor Freight long reach ones needs a new battery.

I was hoping the notch machined into the top of the piston meant it was to go to the front. There were no instructions with the kit.

Thanks Guys, Ed
