Ferguson to20 spindle thrust bearing

I am installing new spindle bushings on my 1950 Ferguson to20 tractor. I noticed after fitting the new bushings to the spindle and installing the spindle into the axle the thrust bearing will not recess up into the axle and would hang out about 1/4 inch. I bought The spindle repair kit from Yesterday's Tractor which came with 4 bushings, 2 thrust bearings and felt gaskets. I removed the thrust bearing off the spindle and tried just installing it in the axle to see if it would fit and it wouldn't. I have had it apart for a little while and tried to look for the old thrust bearings to check fitment, but I must have tossed in the trash. Any help with this issue that I'm having would be appreciated.

I have a TO30, but my parts book suggests the axles are the same. I also bought my spindle bushings and thrust bearings from YT.

When I removed the old thrust bearings they were totally destroyed. Actually, when I removed the spindle pieces of the bearings starting falling out onto shop floor. It took me longer than it should have to figure out that part of the old thrust bearing was still in the axle. A friend had stopped by and I showed him my problem. "Hmmm", he said, "do you think this should come out?" He pried it out and I felt a tad foolish. The new bearing now fit perfectly.

I tell the story so that when I suggest checking whether you got the old bearing out completely it doesn't sound like I'm being critical. I'm just recounting the problem I had. You may have a totally different problem.

I guess there is also a chance the kit came with the wrong bearing.

It looked like there was nothing in there but maybe it's the outer half still stuck in there that looks like part of the axle. I'll reexamine, appreciate it.
