So when I did the head gasket and fixed the oil leaks the tractor was 6 volt. Generator was shot as was regulator and wiring. I thought its a good time to go 12 volt. I put a resistor on because I had a 6 volt coil. I found that the resistor was dark brown on the back side like it was very hot. I found I had a 12 volt coil on the shelf. Took off the 6 volt coil and resistor. Checked the compression also and all are the same and hold. Checked for good spark also and going to get a kit for the carb. Started right up and I think we are good to go.

Good deal!

Still be a good practice to retorque the head and run the valves.

Even though there are no problems now, it could encourage a head gasket problem later on.
