Fuel petcock on a TO20, leaking

Have a TO20 and when I screw the petcock valve down I still have fuel leaking out of the carb drain bowl screw. The more gas in tank the more it leaks( guessing fuel weight/pressure)I clamped the fuel line and it stopped leaking at carb. Is the petcock rebuildable? And does the carb drain screw seat all the way down to shoulder? Does it have some type of gasket or o-ring? I ratcheted it down pretty tight, it was firm going but still didn't seat to shoulder. Could I damage anything by doing that? any more tips, appreciated.
thanks

There is nothing I know of to repair one.

The seat is probably damaged by corrosion or rust chunks getting caught and damaging the sealing surface.

Since it already has a neoprene line, you might opt for installing a fuel shut off valve in the line instead of replacing the tank valve. The new valves are not the same quality as the original, and twisting on the threaded fitting might start the tank leaking.

An inline valve can be bought at a small engine shop.

Thinking the same thing.
How about that fuel bowl drain screw? should it be gasketed? seated fully?
thanks

The carb drain plug is a taper pipe plug.

No, don't over tighten it, could split the bowl!

There is only gravity pressure there, just snug it so it's not leaking.
