Ferguson wouldnt start today....

It took me about 5 minutes with my test pick, and knew exactly the issue. Ferguson to30 starts and runs like a champ... Normally don't even have to choke it. Well today it wouldn't start, turned over fast due to the 12 volt conversion..but not even a burp. Well like I said, 5 min with test pick and found the old key switch had let me down, it would fire and run on the light position, but not the normal one..position one. Anyhow I ordered one from here and she'll be good as new.. Are the one they sell here as good as OEM? Would like to hear from someone who has purchased one. The ones on flea bay seem to be ok with mixed reviews...the one here was 5. And some change... With 11$ shipping.. Flea bay was 12 with free shipping..

I ordered a ' genuine ' replacement switch for my FE35 years ago , it was so flimsy and useless I sent it back quick smart .
A marine switch I found at an electronics shop looked almost exactly the same , and being ' marine grade' it was corrosion resistant and very durable . To add to the benefit it had a key retention position as well so the key would fall out and disappear in the paddock if the ride got a bit bumpy. I'm very happy with it , to add to this it cost half of what the crappy one cost as well .

Switch position.

(1) Off
(2) ign only
(3) ign and lights.
(4) lights only

Wouldn't run in position (1)? Uh...okay. ?
Glad to read you got it figured out!

hahah... my bad on the description, glad you caught that! Ok.... position #2 then, I had thought that the off position was #0. Anyhow, thanks for the replies thus far. I had thought about getting a marine switch as they did look the same, but didn t have one in hand to closely inspect.

I do have a question about that though, on the rear of my switch, I have only three prongs. Yet there are 4 positions, ( including the off position) the 4 th position will shut my tractor off just as turning the key to the off position does...why is that?
