Well, a few months and many hours later, my 1951 TO-20 is about ready for it's debut at the Great Oregon Steam Up the end of this month. Of course, it helps that the featured tractor this year is Ferguson (yes, yes, as well as Ford/Ferguson, and Massey-Ferguson). The only thing I'll be lacking is a new paint job, but that will come afterwards. Been through it from end to end. Rewired, replaced missing/loose bolts/nuts, fixed broken seat bracket, pounded out dents in hood, replaced fenders with new ones (previous owner had already bought them) new light bulbs and new work light, and on and on. Only thing left to do is to take care of the infernal and cussed 6 volt grounding problems with the lights. I swear, 6 volt is a PITA when it comes to grounding. If I touch a well grounded wire to the fixture, the light works. Remove it, and the light goes dim or out. Must be just enough paint or rust between metal surfaces to affect it. Boy is 6 volt sensitive. Anyone else have grounding problems, and what did YOU do to fix it? All the other items, such as starter, ignition, and engine related electrics work just fine. Although, I'm going to have the generator tested, as I don't think it's putting out. At least the old girl starts right up and purrs right along, even at idle. My neighbor took it for a test run today. What a "poo eating grin" he had on his face! That 4th gear should be labeled "race" or "snap neck" gear. Anyway, perhaps I'll see some of you at Steam Up.
