Delco Distributor question - TO-35

I'm trying to rebuild the distributor on my TO35. However, I can't get a wrench on the nut that holds the points and and condensor wire in the pics below. The points are in the way. Do I need to remove the black block that the wire from the coil hooks to on the outside of the distributor? Any ideas how to get that stuff apart?

Thanks!

Yes you do need to loosen the nut to remove the point. I?ve had good luck using needle nose pliers. A small wrench would of course do better. Put a
drop of oil on the threads to help.

Use a wrench 5/32 I think-have to look.I have a wrench that is just for
this. Pliers will round shoulders.Loosen it and it will slide back but be
sure insulator in notch in housing when replacing.I think when you loosen
nut you can slide bolt out and tighten nut on outside to keep this from
happening next time.

Thanks! A standard open end wrench doesn't fit because of the position of the nut, the plate below, etc. Kind of hard to explain but I can't get a open-end on it.

I'll give some of the suggestions a try.
