Thank you for posting the manual. I am having trouble with mine, and I suspect part of it at least is a missing gauze under the venturi. I have circled it in red in this screenshot of your manual. I have not found anyone selling this part. Would it be better to block it rather than leave it open ? Thank you

I would like to upload the image but I'm being blocked from doing so ! "We are sorry, your post contained one or more words that are restricted due to either YT User Community standards or are common indicators of spamming, cracking, or spambot activity."

Not always, but in most cases new users have to have 5 or more posts on record before the site lets them post pictures, due to site spam filters. Another option is to go down to the Site Comments Forum and ask YT Support for permission to post prior to that. You can try going down to the Test Forum and making several posts there to get your post count up, trying to attach your pictures to each post. That may work after you make several posts. Then make your post here again. It may not work immediately after you get past the 5 posts, if not, you might try logging out and back in at that point. There is a size limit as well, I think it is a total of 7mb per post (be it one picture or the total of several). Some pictures (often taken with phones), are too large and have to be reduced before they will post.

Thanks Jim, I can now post pictures. Here is a grab of the 28g diagram above, with a red circle over the aperture at the bottom, under the venturi. On my carb there is nothing in there, its an empty hole. On Bund Bear's carb rebuild video there is a fine metal mesh or gauze, but I can't find anyone selling this in the UK. Would it be best to tape over the hole while I try to sort out my throttle problems ? Thanks, Simon

There is supposed to be a sintered (porous) bronze plug in that hole. It acts as a filter to keep dirt out and allows gas, not pulled up into the engine to drain out.

One place I found them, I'm sure there are others, is McDonald Carb & Ignition (https://www.mcdonaldcarb.com/) .
They show some different sizes on their site. They may ship to the UK. There is info on their site about setting an account to find out if they will ship to you. I expect you could call them and ask as well.

Thanks Jim, I can see some engineering firms in England make sintered bronze plugs so will see if I can adapt one. In the meantime, to get the idle speed and throttle pickup working, I will put a wooden plug in as having this space open must be interfering with the mix.

Good day to you all. I am beginning to despair a little. After realising the hole in the bottom of the carb would upset the mixture I made a cork for it and still have the problem of the revs hunting up and down and the engine not running without a little bit of choke. I thought it might be the governor and have been checking that, but not finding a solution. Yesterday I got annoyed and disconnected the governor from the throttle control arm. And with the throttle control static it still hunts. I don't understand how it can do that with a static throttle.
