Met an interesting guy yesterday that had a 1950 Ferguson TO-20 for sale. Long story made short. I bought it, and the history he gave me on Ford/Ferguson and later Massy story. With that said I had to Be a part of this unique tractor owners group. I will be having lots of questions about the tractor and it's mechanics. Such as brakes,,,,,I have none lol. Should have seen my eyes when I backed it off of the trailer with it not stopping while I was standing on the brake pedal to no avail. Needless to say I parked it !!!!!

Welcome. This is a great site for a lot of help. I recommend getting the service, parts, and operator manuals. They are available here on the parts site,
truly a must have.

Great tractor with a lot of history and reliability.

Post pics when you can.

Brake adjust is the fun part. Jack up the rear, hold both brake pedal rods up. (I used bungee cords) Adjust both wheels so they don't turn.
Back off about three or four clicks. Release the bungees. You might have brakes.
No? Replace the shoes and have the drums turned. I prefer a rough finish as your not going fast enough to hear brake squeak.
Then repeat the adjustment as outlined.

Thanks for the tip. I will give that a try because right now I can press the brake pedal and it just will keep on trucking. The pedal is super hard and doesn't have much travel at all

Do the brake drums have a lot of oil and dirt caked up on them? That would lead to the brake pads being wet with oil and therefore causing loss of
brake function no matter how hard you step on them. When you order new shoes also order ?sureseals? for the axle. These add an inner seal to the
axle that was later added to the TO30 series and up. We are here to help

I took the back wheels off yesterday and they are wet with grease. I'm going to get new shoes and replace them after I clean everything up. Are the seals hard to change?
