Well my ferguson is running nearly perfect, I now need to turn my attention on the braking system. I have one side that works and have little play on my brake peddle to engage it. The side that works also has a weird noise just before it stops... I m sure that most here have experienced that noise... what is it? Just before it stops it makes a sqealing noise.. but when applied at high speeds no noise. The other side doesn t work. I m going to try and adjust them tomorrow. However if I need replace the shoes is that a big job? Tractor has sat inside it s entire life.. no rust anywhere to be seen..I don t have an IT manual.. thanks..
 
These are very easy brakes to replace, maintain. If it has been sitting for a while a thin rust film may have built up on the drum and when brakes
applied noisy or weak brakes, you will need to remove wheels of course and the drum has two large screw that hold the drum to the wheel hub, after
removed the drum can come off. I?m sure there will be plenty of brake residue and rust so pick up a can of brake cleaner. If you have a Tractor supply
store nearby they stock the IT manuals.
