Remove Rotor on distributor TO35

I'm working on my first distributor. It's on a TO35. I'm not getting spark, but I have power to the distributor from the coil. I removed to distributor cap, but now I can't get the rotor off to remove the dust cover/cap to get at the points and condensor. Is there some sort of trick or way I need rotate the rotor?

As a side question, what should the coil ohm at? I'm getting 3.7 primary and 8.5k-ish secondary.

The rotor should just pull off. There is a spring clip inside the rotor that helps wedge it onto the distributor shaft. Coil readings are good. Primary when new about 3.2 ohm. Secondary varies but you are in the ballpark.

Thanks. That's what I thought. It must be rusted on or something because I pulled on it fairly good with a pair of pliers and it didn't budge. Maybe I just need to give it some more muscle. I just didn't want to damage anything. I'm buying a rebuild kit for it and replacing the rotor anyhow.
 

Man, it just won't come off. I'm chipping chunks off the rotor trying to pull it off with the pliers but it won't budge. Any thoughts? I just don't want to damage the shaft or anything I shouldn't.
 
You should be able to tap it off with a screwdriver and hammer, break if needed you are replacing it anyway. While it is off add some oil in the space
under the rotor, that lubes the shaft for spark advance. There should be a small felt disc in there.
 
Hello, A lot of old timers glued them on , on the mag on my Wisconsin i always glue it or it will start working and break. Heat it
and melt the glue- I just break them off----Ed
