Choke connection on to-20, Marvel carb

Brush hogging the other day and a branch must have ripped my choke cable off the carb and bent it up good. The little cam lever is still on the choke rod, and Now I'm looking at the thing and can't even figure out where to hook it back up to? I'm wondering if I broke off part of the shaft, or perhaps it connects between the carb and the egine block?

Anyone have a picture?

Thanks.

So how is the cam lever held in place? Mines a real right fit and doesn't stay on. I'm wondering if you just hammer down the metal?

Originally, they were held on by the brass being "peened" or "spun" to expand it much like a rivet works.

At this point, if you hammer on it, you risk loosening or breaking the choke plate screw, and/or bending the brass shaft. DON'T to it.

I would remove the choke shaft and silver braze the lever back on, it could even be brazed on by someone handy with a torch.

Alternately, replace the choke shaft, they come as a part of $50 to $70 carb kits, but you may be able to find them individually.

I would try calling Mark's Carburetion and see if he has the shafts for sale by themselves, (320) 393-7272.

Not a bad idea I guess. The shaft is bent outside the carb, but I figured I'd see if it was working or not before messing with that.
