Ferguson T 30,1954.

Yes, it would have been 6v pos ground.

If it has been converted to an alternator, it will need to stay 12v neg ground, unless you are putting it back to original with a generator.

If it has a generator and regulator and is neg grnd the gen may have been upgraded to 12 v. Iv'e done that on all mine to maintain the original look but have 12 v. power. makes jump starting and swapping batteries easier too.

Yes 6 volt is standard original, the 12 volt switch offers better starting and less expensive longer lasting batteries.

Sorry my previous answer was incorrect for a TO 30. The TO 20 TO 30 and the early TO 35 were all 6 volt up to 161250 then changed to 12 volt. When you said 12 volt started at 200001 that would have been for the TE series not the TO series. TE=Tractor England, TO=Tractor Overseas. Because Harry was headquartered in England that made us, U. S., Overseas.
