New fan belt size after 12 volt conversion

So I changed my To20 to a 12 volt system with a kit I bought from this site, and the mod rendered the old belt useless as it is too big. I went to Buchheits, auto parts stores and none of em have a belt that works. Does anyone know what size v belt I need? 38" is too small and the old belt is 41" or 42".

There is a post below about an alternator conversion on a TO30.

He used a 39" x 22/32 belt and a wider pulley on the alternator. The end fit may differ with the design of the bracket, but it should be in the 39"-40" range.

Sometimes the generator pulley will fit the alternator, then you can use a wide belt, but you may not find one as wide as the original.

But, you can't run a thin belt that fits the standard alt pulley. It will bottom in the fan and crank pulleys and not drive properly.

If the gen pulley won't fit the alt, you can find a 5/8" wide pulley on Ebay or Amazon.

John Deere M82258 belt, 5/8 x 40. The wider pulley came with my conversion on my TO20. I had spare belts in the barn for my John Deere 110 lawn tractor. This is the front variator drive. Made in USA and currently under $18 at Deere.

This site has 5/8 pulleys. see upper left column...Tractor Parts / Parts / Ford / 9N 2N or 8N / Electrical parts and scroll down
