The tractor is completely restored but it was rarely started for a year and maybe the lift was never tried.I lifted a roughly four stone weight with the lift and it was still up over night.I have started it daily for about a month and tried the lift but it is still jerky. The oil level was at the low level and I topped it up.Any idea how I could fix preferably with out stripping her down again.

Jerky and slow lift is a symptom of bad pump valves.

Only solution is to pull the pump and go through it or get a remanufactured one.

I'm surprised it held itself up. Have you tried letting it down?

The lift goes up and down lifting two people but is jerky. The pump was arleady done up,buying a reconditioned one?

I can't think of anything else that would cause jerky lift other than a pump problem.

The jerky I am referring to is typically severe enough to shake the whole tractor.

Since the pump is submerged I doubt it would be air. Bringing the RPM up should help, but it should be smooth even at idle.

Possibly a bad rebuild.
