Running TEA20 without hydraulic fluid

Hi guys,

This is more out of curiosity than something I actually need to do. I'm not very familiar with the internal operation in the back end of the tractor. Can you run the engine when the hydraulic fluid has been drained? Is there still moving components in there even when disengaged? Just curious say for example one needed to drive a tractor from a to b or work on tuning the engine during a service.

Cheers, Ferg

Transmission, rearend, or differential, and hydraulics are all the same fluid. Unless you hold the clutch in,there are still
shafts spinning inside the transmission.

You could test fire the engine safely, but not run it more than a few seconds.

Or like Greg said, block the clutch down. Even that could be risky, the release bearing and pilot bearing are not really intended for long term running.

These manuals are the best investment I've ever made as per TEA-20 Ferguson Tractors:

One of my PARTS TEA-20s was purchased from an owner that would not use,or invest in a Manual. When he ran his TEA-20 with no oil in the Common OIL
SUMP,"Transmission,Hydraulic Pump,Differential", he disconnected the six foot cultivator, and headed for home. At approximately the 1/4 mile point a HOLE
appeared in the side of the TRANSMISSION CASE. The Hydraulic Pump was also ruined.

Each to their own, I do not have enough $$$$$$$$ to own and operate equipment with out the Service & Parts,Manuals:
