I finally got an electrical fix using a Ford starter solenoid hooked up and a Hobbs switch (4psi open/normally closed) in line. Normal shift handle start and the switch disengages the whole system once it gets 4PSI oil pressure. So once it starts and the pressure comes up it will no longer bang the ring gear while running.
 
Clear as mud! If, your tractor uses the shift handle to start the engine. And while you are operating your tractor, you shift the handle and it slips into the "S" position and bangs the starter. Then this solution will work for you.
Wire the large battry cables to either side of the Ford Solenoid. Run a smaller power wire to one side of the original starter button switch in front of the steering column. Run the opposite side wire from the switch through the pressure switch and connect it to the "s" terminal on the Ford Soleniod.
This will allow you to use the shift handle to start the engine via the Ford solenoid and the pressure switch will not allow electrical flow while it has oil pressure.
 
Interesting and innovative modification?

Does the TO20/30 have an electrical oil pressure gauge? The TEA20 gauge is not electrical - used an oil cappilliary tube to take oil pressure to the gauge.

I used the Hobbs switch "Tee'd" into the back of the guage behind the dash. Out of sight and enough room to keep away from the battery.
 
i know this is an old thread, but just trying to understand, not knowing much about starter solenoids.....so the big + battery cables that were attached to the starter switch go on either side of the solenoid, and the oil pressure switch goes to the s terminal on the solenoid and one of the terminals on the starter switch to interrupt the power...am i right so far? question is, where does the other side of the starter switch connect to on the solenoid? thanks!

wont let me edit, but it seems like the oil pressure switches are three wires...guessing connect to the battery terminals to 2 and the solenoid to the other terminal? thanks!
