after overhaul should head be retorqued after running

Seems like that was standard operating procedure when I was a kid.
Do I need to retorque after running to operating temp?
Thanks
Jim

As an old MF mechanic, I won't let any Continental or Perkins out of the door WITHOUT re-torqueing the head and re-setting the valves. I leave the fan belt off so the coolant does not flow, then warm the engine to 180-190 degrees. Engines warm up quickly and evenly that way..
