Hello folks!

Brief intro:

Ive had a couple of old Ferguson tractors, and I'm currently working on a 1955 (HF stamped castings) TO-35 with dual stage clutch. Serial number plate was missing when I got it, and I had to make some adjustments to find out I had the dual stage clutch... but it does work. The guy I bought it from had completely rebuilt the Z134 gas engine (manifolds and all) and ordered a new hood and gas tank. I rebuilt the carb and added electronic ignition and replaced the starter, water pump, and alternator... runs great

Anyway, the lift works but has leaked down rather fast when turned off since I got it. I was digging some azalea roots up with my box blade hooks for my wife's flower garden spot and the hooks hot hung up. I backed up and tried again to go forward , and that's when the position control lever went 'limp' and stopped working. It now just slides up and down with no tension on it and I have to use the draft control to raise and lower the lift.

My question is this: Since I already know the pump leaked down a little, I want to go ahead and replace the pump. The problem is that all of the hydraulic pumps I see here and elsewhere are advertised for[b:2d551390d8] "TO35 serial number 179304 and up"[/b:2d551390d8] . I know the 1955s were serial numbers 140xxx-160ish. So where can I get a replacement pump for a 1955 serial #143xxx tractor??

Thanks in advance, and happy Veterans Day to my fellow vets!

Your pump may not be the problem, will have to dive in to find out for sure. The rings on the piston may be worn and allowing it to bleed off too fast. (Nature of the beast I believe)
I replaced the rear end housing on my TO35 with one from MF50. I think the pump was from the 50 also but not sure. My point is, I think the newer pump would be fine, even though it's not an exact match.

Sounds like some of the control linkages may have turned loose.

Thank you sir.

If my info is correct and I have the older style pump (tearing it open tomorrow) , then I have the old 2.5" piston. I think I saw a replacement piston on this site but I didnt see the ring (single ring on the 2.5" piston).

So to get specific, is this correct?

The new style pump listed in the TO-35 hydraulic section on Yesterdays Tractor Parts "[b:bdff96051b]will[/b:bdff96051b]" work in the '[b:bdff96051b]55[/b:bdff96051b] models with the [b:bdff96051b]2.5[/b:bdff96051b]" piston/cylinder, but you have to use the [b:bdff96051b]2000 PSI [/b:bdff96051b]relief valve?

What other parts should be replaced when going through this procedure?

Thanks

Yea sane hydraulic pump right up.to.the 50/65
Your current pump probably hasn't a filter attached where as the new one has.

Don't know if that's the cure though as the draft lever was still working the lift. Bit odd but since yoir doing the pump you should also replace rings on lift piston and hone the lift cylinder.
Also replace all o rings on stack pipe and anywhere else
