TEA20 steering drop arm bushes

Have removed drop arm seals in preparation of replacing with new ones to fix oil leak, however with seal removed I now notice that drop arms look a little sloppy in their bushes. My question is how much tolerance is acceptable or how much play in bush will negate new seals doing their job. Wish I had known the issue prior to putting tractor back together after reconditioning motor and new paint job as having to pull steering box off to replace the bushes is going to be a real pain

Unless they are really sloppy, they will be OK.

After all, it's a tractor, not a race car. Not much chance of a high speed crash! LOL

But seriously, when the new seals are in, might want to go back with NLGI 0 or 00 grade grease instead of oil. This is a simi-fluid grease, thick enough to stay in with less than perfect seals, but thin enough not to channel away from the gears. It can be pumped in until the gear box is full. That will lube the upper bearing. Just be careful not to blow out the seals.

es you are right it would amount to a lot of work undoing what I just put together for little gain so it's new seals and fill her up with liquid grease.
