TO35 Distributor Oil Plug

The oil plug on my Ferguson TO35 distributor is on the back side towards the engine. I can feel it there but cannot see it. Is it very bad that I can't get to it to fill it with oil? If I try to adjust the oil plug to the front, I imagine that will affect the timing.

Should be easy enough to mark the position, take the hold down bolt out, swing it around, lube it, then put it back where it was.

Or, determine where it needs to be, as in loosening the clamp, turning it 90* or 180* from where it is now. Just pull the plug wires (take a picture first), turn the distributor, put the wires back in their new position. The timing will be close enough to start, but it will need to be set.
