1953 TO30 live PTO lever

Hi I just purchased a 1953 Ferguson TO30. It has a large lever on the left side of the seat. the guy I bought it from said it was a lever for live PTO. Is any one familiar with this? and if so how does it work Thanks

When you want to stop and let PTO run to pick up implement push the lever forward to
stop. Let out to go. Works just like foot clutch but makes it live PTO.You can change
gears also. I have one it's a Sherman. To adjust on the right side is a small cap-by
the dip stick--remove and screw in small adjustment nut in or out a little at a
time.It should stay adjusted one it's set if you ever had to adjust.

Thanks for the information I think I understand how it works now. if you push the lever forward the tractor will stop but the PTO will still turn is that correct?
