A few years back I was in contact with a John UK by email. He used to post on the ferguson forum here. I have tried to contact him recently but have not received a reply. Does anyone have a contact email for John UK or some other way of contacting him. Thanks. Ron
 
He was old a few years ago. Then he got ill and the postings came to an end. Just curious, what are you trying to do? Year, make, model and problem??
 
Hey Bruce, I have a 1952 Ferguson 20-85. I am trying to replace the rear crankshaft seal. I had instruction from John UK which I followed except I did not empty the oil from the engine which after rereading was suggested) and remove the oil pan (which he didn't have in the instructions, he just had removing the small oval port in the side but I don't know why). So I have the tractor split and sitting on blocks/jacks and cannot figure how to get the old seal removed and the new one installed. I have posted questions here and replied to replies this morning. The one reply was good except it dealt with replacing the seal during a motor rebuild so the oil pan was off, engine upside down etc. I would like to figure out if I need to remove the oil & pan to get at the crank block to replace the seal. If you wouldn't mind looking at my earlier posts/pictures and make any suggestions I would appreciate it. I also have a question about the front gearbox seal. I looked at it and it doesn't seem to be leaking (see picture). I know that the seal is cheap but I generally don't replace it if it isn't broken. What do you suggest. Also what is the easiest way to replace the thrust bearing and pilot bearing? Thanks for any help that you can provide. Ron

When the day arrives, I have to change out the throw out bearing for the clutch.....

I shall Fabricate something similar to this tool......

Pilot bearing can be 'hydraulic-ed' out. Find a dowel the same diamter as the pilot bearing. 1/2 inch extension? Fill the hole in the back of the crank with grease. Drive the dowel into the hole. The grease will force the bearing out.
 
It would appear the oil pan needs removed and clear access to all the fasteners will become evident. As for the thrust bearing, a pic of that might be in need. Sometimes, thrust bearings are pushed unto a sleeve that becomes part of the assembly. The easiest way to do this might be a usage of a steel punch for removal and perhaps a brass drift for installation.
