TE20 twisted PTO shaft..?!

Ohhhh no!

I was running a wood chipper on my grey TE20 and it got jammed on a log at high RPM and the tractor stalled. The PTO engage lever was stuck (engaged) and I could not disengage. After talking to someone they suggested the most likely cause is a twisted PTO shaft...?

I have removed the PTO engage lever cover and managed to disengage the PTO but... the shaft itself will not come out.

After several hours and a LOT of brute force (8lb sledgehammer on a fabricated tool attached to the PTO- aka homemade slide hammer) I have managed to extract it approximately 50mm (2") but can not extract it any further.

What now?? I imagine its jammed in the HYD pump but cant see any splines at all through the side cover. I cant drop the bottom plate as the HYD pump still has the shaft through it. Arrrrggghhhh

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

Continue and you will destroy the hydraulic pump if you haven't already . John UK once told me off [ ever so gently ] for suggesting your way of removing a twisted shaft .

The shaft tends to twist up front , which is why you've managed to get it out so far . The only sure method is to split the tractor after the gear box casting and cut the shaft out . It is an easy and straightforward job despite what it sounds like .

I dealt with a similar problem on a TO30. Had to split the tractor and cut the shaft to get it out. With yours pulled out that far is is possible to cut it off at the rear of the tractor then drive it back toward the front to remove? Don't know if that will work or not.
