TO-35 input shaft side play

Hi,

to-35 w seized oil pump and ruined engine.
Engine rebuilt and engine reassembled and primed. TO-35 with 2 stage clutch. I noticed some side play in the input shafts, both the main and the PTO. I popped the steering box off and the inside of the
transmission is pretty immaculate. Given my experience with the engine I was afraid Id find a horror show.

Is ANY side play acceptable in either input shaft? Looks like a bearing housing is accessible form the bell housing.

Some side play out on the end of the shafts is normal.

The pilot bearing supports the end when the engine is in place.

But while the engine is out, be a good opportunity to remove the front bearing retainer and replace the seals. You will then be able to see the bearing.
