removing rear axle outer bearing on a TE 20

I would like to remove the outer axle bearing and replace the bearing and race on my TE 20. Would like to know how others have removed the bearing.
I was thinking about using two long full threaded rods and screwing them into the bearing retainer, made a plate for top of the axle use two nuts and remove the bearing retainer and bearing. This seems like it might work but might break the bearing retainer. May just try a ready seal which I read about. I think our host sells these types of seals. Removing bearing to replace seal as seal in leaking.

For a simple fix clean the bearing really well then pack with bearing grease. Then you can use the ready seal as the inner seal and potentially stop the leak to the bearing. The better way is talk to local auto store that has a machine shop who can do the job. I believe they would need a press that will fit the 9? hub. Give them a new outer seal, bearing and retainer and they can put it all together. Grease bearing as before and still add the ready seal. I have a TE20 and did that last year. Both bearings needed changing and of course seals were leaking. I paid $75/axle to have mine rebuilt plus the parts.

Thanks for the information. I was additionally thinking about taking the axle to a machine shop to have the bearing removed and reinstalled. Will try the sure seals first.

Sure Seals should come with a chamfered edge to allow the ease of installation. The newer ones do. The old stock does not. You might need a file and put a slight edge on them to ease installation. Also you need drum brake wheel bearing grease to pack the bearings. Most preferably the short fiber wheel bearing grease. You might also pick up a 3' section of 3" ABS pipe to slide over the axle and aid in the installation of the seals.
