What is the correct way of putting back together, doesn't want to go in with spring set in place as it won't clear the bottom to sit in hole. Thing is driving me nuts.

Remove cotter pin , allow spring to slide where it wants... then slide shaft up and into position... once it?s in the guides THEN you can slide spring back up and install cotter key. Otherwise the spring goes into full coil bind before you have enough room to get the shaft high enough to slide into position.

How do you manage to compress spring which needs to be fully compressed to get the Cotter pin in.

Zip ties .... cut em when the cotter pin is in place.
