had a fellow text me last night wanting to purchase a John Deere 7100 Unit Frame from me that is new i asked $125 for it. He says he stays in Texas most of the time and so on and then his phone is registered in Connecticut. I wrote him back this morning saying i can see several red flags in this message he sent me as why would someone pay $50 to ship a $125 item.
I have every feeling in the world that this is a scammer. What they won't try to get a little bit of information on any or all of us.
I hate for a very nice website like this be a route for scammers but THEY ARE OUT THERE.
I don't care if he reads this or not but i am sure he has no intentions of purchasing this item but to try and get a easy buck out of us farmers and citizens who have paid taxes and lived and worked here in the USA all our lives

Text him back and tell him when you are "paid in good funds" that can be verified by your bank you will ship the item.

What have you got to lose?

More than once I have needed parts that are not common nearby to me and are heavy/$$$ to ship from a distance, but have gladly paid the cost to get what I needed to get a project done.

Just recently I paid over $100 to get a $50 truck part sent across the country to me, seller did his part, and packed it well, and got it to the freight company and they did their part. Got the truck back on the road and my customer was HAPPY.

Use to not worry about the cost of freight or someone paying but in the last few years folks think freight isn't a factor and more than once I have shipped stuff and not received my funds.Shame as it use to not be that way.I do think now if its not a previous I just tell them to look somewhere else.

People with phone numbers that begin with an area code far far away are nothing out of today's norm.
Cell phone numbers can travel with you when one moves, and the area codes do not change when you move.

The tricky part when dealing from afar is getting paid with legitimate funds that can't be revoked.

best way to stop that is tell them you take personal checks only with 3 week clearing time from deposit.works everytime.

A lot of people don't know this, but you can ship somewhat large items via Greyhound freight. It doesn't go fast so if you're not in a hurry, it works. Reasonable prices also. You can find it on line.

I have several things i?ve Sold off eBay that guys paid for but when they checked shipping I never heard from them again. One was an 800 dollar set of weights. A couple guys backed out before they paid the shipping.

I thought Greyhound went bust. There aren’t anymore around here. They used to have a big station in Nashville and they used to stop here in Springfield. We used them a lot @ 30 years ago because it [i:a5a4684d3f]WAS[/i:a5a4684d3f] fast. We could order a gearbox from Atlanta by 9:00am and it would be in Springfield by 3:00. It was relatively inexpensive, too.

The best thing you can do when it is obvious that the person at the other end of the conversation is a scammer, is WALK AWAY. Cut off all communications. Don't answer the phone. Don't answer the emails.

You are not going to convince the scammer to change his ways with your righteously indignant lecturing. It is a waste of time and a waste of breath/keystrokes. They will just move on to someone else. You should too.
