IH H4 Magneto Problems

I have an IH H4 Magneto on my bench and I need help.
How do I test the coil to see if it is bad? I have replaced all the usual parts but I have no spark. I use a test lamp to test continuity, but what should I find between leads on the coil? I don't want to buy a new coil unless it is definitely bad.

Rub those points with a point file or 320 wet or dry. Then see if you have fire from a plug wire.

Using a test lamp will depend on the voltage of your test lamp. You have to have continuity between wire and core & high voltage output terminal to core on secondary winding. Due to the high resistance of secondary your test lamp may not record continuity. An ohm meter will show near zero on primary (resistance is so low it will take a very sensitive ohm meter to give you a reading other than zero), and the secondary should be in the neighborhood of 7 thousand ohms.

Thanks to all. The coil is open between the leads and the secondary terminal.
Going to find a new coil.
