The start of C153 and Super C project

Well I found a donor Super C this week and want to get started think hard about how I am going to do it. I have reviewed the post on here and elsewhere but want to do this step by step.

I want to do this the simplest way and it seems like Not drilling a pilot bearing may be the simplest way.

Some have said they used a flywheel from a 504 and pressed in a bearing for the drive shaft to ride in after trimming the drive shaft 7/8".

First of many questions is there anyway the original flywheel can be used instead??

If I have to use a 504 flywheel can the larger 504 clutch be used???

Many more questions to come and I appreciate any and all inputs to my quest.

Not familiar with the similarities/differences between the two. But,it might be cheaper(more fun, too) to 'modify' a few parts than to buy a bunch of 'new' parts that acctually 'fit'.If I had parts on hand for a similar/like project,I would try really hard to use what I had on hand. Keep us updated on your progress, pics if possible! Good luck!!!

I can see the benefit of using ready-made parts, if they'll work, rather than "one-off" modifications. If something breaks, with ready-made parts you just go find another part and replace it. with "one-off" shop-built parts, when something breaks, you have to build another one, and THEN replace it.

I did one a couple of years ago and i just put a bearing in the super C fly wheel. I couldnt find a bearing that would match the shaft and the inside of the the fly wheel so i got one that fit the shaft and took it to a machine shop and he made a bushing for inside the fly wheel so the bearing would fit. Worked great and didnt cost much.
