Farmall Cub pto pulley

Hi all, Still working on installing the mower deck on the Farmall Cub. The belt and pulleys are not compatible at this time causing the belt to come off. I contacted Woods Equipment and downloaded the manual for the 42c mower. It looks to me like the pto pulley in the manual is a much larger diameter than my pulley. A larger diameter pulley would move things in to better alignment. So, here are the questions.

1. Were there different diameter pulleys available for the pto on the cub?

2. What is the diameter of the pulley on your cub pto?

Thanks

I just went out and measured the pto pulley on my cub which has a woods 42c mower. It measures 7 3/4" outside dia. It runs the mower fine. About 8" is as big as will fit if your tractor has the rear lift arm in place. This is a non-fast hitch tractor. Fast hitch requires a whole bunch of different items to accommodate the mower. The cub 22 sickle mowers used a 4" and later a 4 1/2" dia. pulley.

i know of at the least 2 different size pulleys. one is a flat pulley that runs the belly mmower. and the other , do not know how to describe it, runs the sickle mower. the one for the sickle mower is not flat, but extends out beyond the end of the pto shaft. if this is what you have, i would like to purchase it if it would be for sale. of course shipping expense may prohibit the sale.

can you post a pic of your pulley? the cub i own has the ih [ danco] 42 inch belly mower and its pulley is even different than dan has, mines spokes and mounts almost flush with the end of the pto splines

Different diameter pulleys were available, but they were for different pieces of equipment.

Pulley diameters were different depending on which mower you are running. An IH sickle mower needs a 4.5" pulley. The Woods 59" mower deck takes a pulley that's about 6" in diameter. The Woods 42" mower requires a pulley that's almost 8". There were several other mowers available, each needing its own correct pulley to work properly.

Thanks for the reply. It appears that I have the
small diameter pulley for the sickle bar mower
installed. I also have the sickle mower so that is
a plus. I cannot however find the 8 inch diameter
pulley so I doubt that was in the stack I brought
home when the step dad died. If he ever had it, it
is long gone now. Any idea where I can find one?

I will try to post pictures in the next few days. I first have to take them and then figure out how to post them.

It appears that I do need the larger diameter pulley for the mower. The pulley installed is the smaller one described for the sickle mower but I also have that mower so no pulley for sale. Do you know where I can find the 8 inch diameter pulley I need?

Thanks for the pictures. My mount is similar but different than yours. My pulleys mount straight up and down instead of at an angle. My mower mount is also round instead of flat like yours. The pulley you have however appears to be the size that I need as that would align the belt and pulleys much closer than they are now. Any idea where I can find the 8 inch diameter pulley?

The last one I purchased was a browning and came from Tri-state bearing Inc. Link below. The Browning F-splined bushing is part# BRO H.978-101NV. This piece attaches the pulley to the PTO shaft. The pulley part# for the 7 3/4" (as close as I can find to 8") is BRO BK80H.
Good luck. Dan Robertson
