706 diesel leaky injector

I have a 706 diesel that is leaking raw diesel out of the front injector closest to radiator. Local dealer told me about $4000 to fix it. Included adjusting valves and all new injectors. that seems way expensive! the tractor isn't worth much more than that. Any thoughts? I'm sure it doesn't pay to replace only the leaky one. Tractor runs great and doesn't smoke at all. Should I just let it be? Thanks, Dan.

P.S. it is the 282 motor.

I would take the injector to a diesel shop. If it can't be fixed buy a different one--maybe used one.

If it runs good absolutely no reason you cannot replace just the one that is leaking or have that one repaired. Unless some previous repairman didn't clean up the hole injection nozzle fits in head and use new gaskets under and over pre cup it is a simple job to take out and replace. The cup below injection nozzle needs to come out and it is marked for proper alignment when installing.

Well with out seeing where it is leaking and how it is leaking i am guessing . It could be that that line has a damaged ferrell or a cracked line at or just below the nut . Now if it is leaking around the base of the injector a new seal ring and a good cleaning of the injector well will do the job if done wright and the injector is installed correctly . As for adjusting the valves get yourself a book atleast and I T manual and a feeler gauge and DYI . And 4000 grand for the dealer to do it yea wright are they on DRUGS . Lest see here for that money we could rebuild the engine and replace the clutch and T/A for that . Good go.d the greed in this world today is unreal.
