c-263 rocker arm oil

Just finished complete overhaul on 656 263 engine. Runs great, 50# oil pressure @ main oil gallery. I am not getting any oil at rocker arms or push tubes. What did I forget to do? Did I miss a plug somewhere?

OUCH! Ya' that sounds like a good possibility. I suppose that would be the front brg.? Can you tell me a clever way to check this without pulling the cam? Maybe someone has a good flexible bit for rent..

Another terrifying thought... Stupid question: If gasket is upside down, could I take front rocker assembly out and drill through gasket without further damage?

Been there, done that. Had the machine shop press in the cam bushings. Even gave them the section in the manual mentioning the bushing for the rocker arm holes. Must have threw it away. No oil up top, had to pull the cam and head. Took an 1/8 inch long bit and drilled a hole in the bushing. Now works fine.

You can get a long drill bit from most aircraft supply houses.

The second cam bearing is the one that passes oil to the head.

The camshaft journal has a hole drilled through it so the oil passes through in only one spot of crankshaft revolution, every have turn of the camshaft.

Thanks for the info. I am in the process of pulling the engine out of the frame. I may want to give my parts store a growl if they put the bearing in wrong...maybe time to get my own cam bearing driver?

Thanks for the info. Maybe I should get my own cam bearing driver for the future considering time frustration and a bunch of expensive gaskets. This is the kind of thing that takes the fun out of it all.

Finally found time to pull engine down and found the problem. You were right, the #2 cam bearing was out of index. Going back together now.
Thank you, I"ll not trust someone elses work after this.

Thanks, a lesson well learned!
