Four International M1 Garands at one time!

They aint cheap. I tried to buy one a while back in the mid 1990s. While a Danish Garand that was rebuilt to "new" condition was $400, an IH Garand in any "useable" condition was over $1000 if the CMP had one. I bought the Danish with a brand new VAR barrel. While the Garand is a pretty good rifle for what they cost now for even a shooter I'd rather buy a brand new AR10.

Put my name on one. It could keep mine from the Springfield Armory company. Nothing more fun than taking out a deer at 400 yards with open sights on one of those babies.

I can't help but wonder if there were any IH Garands that were in South Korea arsenal. They were going to give them
Back to the U.S. And would have been eligible for purchase, but the external_link administration put a stop to it. On a related note, there will be no more Mosin Nagant rifles imported or surplus 7.62 54r ammo imported. Thanks Mr. President.

Well, I dont see it every day, but mine is put up for safe keeping. I do like seeing the difference types of stains and such people use to refurbish the wood. Not real sure how Dad ended up with it, but he always said it was "in the family" since the late 50s.

I know the IHC Garands were made in the early '50s and not during WWII, but isn't it amazing the companies that did make things completely out of their realm of business during the war?
GM and Ford building airplanes, Singer Sewing (although only a handful) building 1911s, Rockola juke box and US Postal Meter building M-1 Carbines, etc.
May be mistaken, but I believe High Standard may have made the barrels for IHC Garands.

(quoted from post at 12:20:43 03/18/14) LMR made the barrels. (Cant remember what LMR
stands for though.)
Okay, LMR is Line Materials Company, so HS must have made them for another company.
In doing a little research, it seems maybe HS only made replacement barrels for Garands, which would have been installed during an armory rebuild, not for any one particular manufacturer. I may have come across an IHC that had been re-built at some point and got the impression they were made for IHC.
