It is getting fuel, battery fully charged. It will crank however will not start, white smoke is coming from the pipe. Was running a few days ago, very hard to get started took about a hour. After it did start, you could shut it off and it would start right back up with no issues. Let set for about a hour and a half, went back to start it and it would not start and haven't been able to get it to start since.

(quoted from post at 18:12:49 03/07/14) Was ether used on it lately? Sounds like low compression.

Yes, I used ether and still would not start...

Is there a quick fix for it? Do you think I could use some engine restore in it?

Well how much was used??? If you tried to start it for an hour using ether, you may have an issue. Used sparingly and in a correct manner ether is OK to help kick start an engine. Used in abundance it can: wash cylinder walls causing scratching and poor sealing, can ignite at the wrong time pounding bearings, bending rods (push and connecting) and break rings (especially compression). If it dies not start with a few squirts while cranking don't use it any more.

If you want to waste a few bucks, sure you could. Quick fix would be do a compression check and see where you are at and then fix it correctly.

You say it started and restarted when warm how was the power????

I had a 190xt allis chalmers did something like that once it had a cable that went to the pump and it was stuck on the off position not sure what you have on yours but may want to check

I've had the electric solenoid stick on the injection pump on my 260A before. A tap with a hammer has freed it up and got it working. If it starts happening more frequently I will take the pump off and have it gone through by a pump shop.

When I had it stated a few weeks ago, we would spay a couple of shots of ether in it and crank it for a couple of mins. Let it set for about 3 to 5 mins and crank it a couple more mins. Let it set then try ether again. After about a hour it started, this was really early of the morning before the sun came up. I'd say it was about 30 to 40 degree. We ran it for about 30 mins shut it off for about 10 mins and it started back. Ran it a total of about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Shut it off went back about a hour later and wouldn't not start and haven't been able to get it started since. We started it ran good with plenty of power.

I don't know anything about the backhoe just brought it a fee weeks ago, it's the 1st one I have owned. What is the injection pump? Where would it be located?
