504 row crop hydraulic questions

Hi everyone, thanks for help with my 706 lp! I have finally got
back to work on my 1964 504 rc nf after sitting idle for4 years.I
drained all the hydraulic sludge out of the tractor i could get out
before painting it,blowing and flushing all the lines, couplers and
cooler with brake parts cleaner 3 years ago.
Now i have forgotten how the side cover should go on,with the
notch at the front or rear of th tractor. It will bolt on either
way,but what is the right way?I have seen pics of them each
way.How should i bleed the system,it is a narrow front,how
many gallons of fluid 13? Thanks yall

Mine has it on like yours. Books don't show any pictures of it and doesn't mention one way or the other. Capacity is supposed to be 13 gallons. Mine is a leaking piece of junk and has homemade loader mounts make the level plug hard to get to. I fill to about 8.5 inches below the top. I'm guessing it has an overflow drain of some kind as a little fluid runs out of a round hole in the bottom of the transmission case for a while after a refill.

The cover goes on the way you have it. Mine has a loader on it that the frame is close to that bolt the indent makes it easier to get the bolt out.

THANK YOU!!!! I' m going to put the decal on,shoot the clear to it and nail it on!
Stay tuned I'll have more questions im sure.Thank you guys!
I will post some pics soon.
