SM Block in a 400

If I remove everything off my 400 engine (crank, cam, governor, head, etc.) and assemble it on a SM block will I have any problems? MY 400 has the 4 1/8 pistons, will they fit into the SM Block?

The only way you can run them in that block is with no sleeves or boring to fit sleeves you have

My first reply is wrong, I had M block on my mind, SM block is same as 400, sorry for misinformation

a super m 264 block will swap with a 400. they both use same sleeve so your 4.125 pistons will work if the sm block has 4.125 sleeves in it or you put the 4.125 sleeves in. call batescorp in bourbon indiana. they got a few good blocks ive seen n they can ship.

SM and 400 blocks in early farmall 400 tractors was cast # 356981R1. When 400 tractors started coming from the factory with dipsticks the cast number was changed to 356981R2.
If your 400 pan doesn"t have petcocks to check the oil you would need a pan with them or drill the SM block for a dipstick.
