Im wanting to make the most out of my little C that i can i cant really cant get anyone to tell me anything or anywhere to to look this up can i put a 504 or a 444 gas in my c model? is a lp head better than a gas head ? just wondering if anyone can help

Get a later SC block then you can put he 3 1/4 hi dome pistons and sleeves. Then a 240 head with manifold and 240 gov spring run about 2100 rpms end up with around 40 pluss HP.

Just wondering, will a C135 from a 404 fit without modifying anything?

People know plenty about C's.

People just don't know about putting engines out of other tractors into C's. There's a big difference.

Frankly, I don't know why you would want to destroy a rare, valuable tractor to put a rare, expensive-to-rebuild, hard-to-find-parts-for engine into one of the most common IH tractors ever made.

The model progression is C, Super C, 200, 230, 240, 404.

A 444 is an entirely different animal, and shares no parts or design commonality with the C. IIRC it's a Doncaster, UK-built tractor.

Sounds like a lot of work to just have a suped up C. If that is what floats your boat, then that's okay, it's your tractor. But, for the same money or less, you could find a good used H or M that would get you the HP that you need.

I personally think that it is a good idea if you want to! I have two c's, one is restored original, and the other is going to be suped up. Me and dad plan on putting a small block Chevy in it, but I have done some research and a Farmall 404 gas engine will bolt right up, with only a few basic modifications. I agree with you that a c is a little too wimpy. All the guys in my local club preach to me that it wouldn't pull a 2 bottom, well I showed em wrong, but just barley! Good luck, if it isn't too much to ask I would love to be kept in the loop with how it goes!

heck yea guy ive came across a couple of new things a super C block with the 31/4 popdome pistons but you have to use a 240 head to have the clearance thats it no cam crank or head mods 45 to 48 hp ok ive been told the 140 engine has more ci than that i dk if a 140 will bolt right up why wouldn't a 240 will it? by the way i'm in east tn. foothills of the smokies drove truck for 19 1/2 years when you could truck im one of the first ten 110+mph club members of the east tn left lane gang cluck cluck chicken truck keep in touch we will build different tractors together

i have a super H the C started out as my daughters and has been for a while she lost interest after a few yrs shes got a butt load of trophies we have adopted another girl 4 now 3 are ours but when she got here i tried to keep her out of the shop mostly because of the little pullin romeos then i didnt want her to be like a tom boy i got all girly girls but ive gave up but she fell in love with little c when she got here so i told her id help her i'd build it she drove the deal began and i got so tired of those guys pulling up to weight in and sound like a rumblig bat pull in stock class and it sounds feaking nascar so this time i think ill follow some of those guys words no its stock, its only cheating if you get caught,Its all in who can cheat best

right that was my thoughts i like the super c engine in my c whipp it up a little then no gear and rears jerking out but you can up the power just enough to make COME ON LITTLE C and it looks and functions like a c or super whatever decal kit you want to buy
