H Casting Codes

My 1950 "H" has a 1950 serial number, 339655, and casting codes of "T", which all correspond to 1950. However the transmission casting has a casting code of 4-27-W. Means April of 1951?? Don't quite get it. Bought this from an old IH mechanic, and I don't think he assembled this from several tractors. Doesn't matter, but anybody got an idea?

It was probably broken in half due to a loader(or something) at some point.A lot can happen in 63 years.I'll bet the old mechanic hasn't owned it the entire time......

I can remember a few H's totaled because of high cost of replacement transmission gears back in the late 1950's and early 1960's. So your H may have had this happen and owner replaced with used transmission from a newer H that had been totaled due to engine or other problem ?

Repaired with salvage trans most likely. Perhaps by the old Mechanic, perhaps before he got it.
Like you I like to try to work out any bit of history for a tractor like that that I have little on-nice to know, and can be good for something to do/think about to pass time.
